Bangaloreans are fundamentally foodies. When you live in a town whose name literally translates to ‘Town of Beans’ you’ve got to love food! Changing nature of food consumption patterns and the culture of eating out in Bengaluru refer to certain features of life in the city: the tech-savvy young population, the nature of work and changing lifestyles, heavy advertising of food and by the food industry, the growing number of migrants, and above all changing family and gender relationships. Multiculturalism and cosmopolitanism have radically transformed both eating and cooking habits. There has been an increase in the number of people claiming to be ‘foodies’, or wanting to experiment with food and be adventurous in exploring new kinds of food.
